521kg meth seized from jet in Laos declared as vape products to conceal drugs

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: The 521kg of crystal methamphetamine seized from a private jet in Laos was declared as vape products in the aircraft's cargo manifest to conceal the illicit shipment bound for Manila.

The aircraft, which belongs to a Malaysian-operated aviation company, was intercepted by Lao authorities at Luang Prabang International Airport on Oct 1 before the drugs could be flown to the Philippines.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations revealed that the private jet initially departed Subang Airport without any cargo before arriving in Laos.

He said the drugs were believed to have been loaded onto the aircraft in Laos for onward transport to Manila.
