LUCENA CITY — Two young sisters drowned while swimming in a river in this city on Aug. 20, police reported Friday (August 21).

The Quezon police said the victims, identified only as “Aila,” 8, and her younger sister, “Zai,” 7, both residents of Barangay Ilayang Dupay, asked permission from their parents to swim at the spillway of Lakawan River at about 11 a.m.

More than two hours later, the sisters had not returned home, prompting their parents to search for them.
