Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival confirmed on Friday that one child died in a landslide in Barangay Pulangbato, while two remain missing and one was rescued as of 3:30 p.m.
In an update on Facebook, Archival said that a total of four individuals were trapped under the debris after a sudden soil collapse in the barangay.
According to the mayor and a report by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Region 7, the child, who was the only fatality, was initially recovered and rushed to the hospital, but eventually passed away while receiving emergency care.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations are ongoing for the two remaining missing individuals (one adult and one child).
The rescued adult is now in stable condition, according to Archival.
The Cebu City local government unit advised the public to avoid gathering around the landslide site and to keep emergency lanes clear to allow easy access for rescue vehicles and heavy equipment.
For safety reasons, non-essential personnel are strictly requested to keep away from the site, as the soil in the area remains highly unstable.
Archival urged the public to keep the victims, their families, and the rescue team in their prayers as operations continue.
“Our emergency personnel are working tirelessly on the scene. Let us keep the victims, their families, and our brave responders in our prayers,” Archival said. —LDF, GMA News
