Pascal Siakam grew up in Douala, Cameroon, dreaming about soccer, not basketball. Then a fellow Cameroonian spotted him at a local camp, and everything changed. Today the Pacers forward has earned about $231 million in NBA salary, according to Spotrac, and he is only in the third year of a $189 million deal. His net worth is harder to pin down, with estimates running anywhere from $20 million to about $90 million. Here is how the 27th pick in the 2016 draft built that money.
From A $6.4 Million Rookie Deal To $189 Million
Toronto took him 27th in 2016, and his four-year rookie contract was worth about $6.4 million. Not much, at first. In his early seasons he also spent time in the G League, where he led Raptors 905 to the Finals and won Finals MVP.
Year three changed his life. He jumped from 7.3 to 16.9 points a game, won Most Improved Player and helped Toronto win the 2019 title. The pay followed fast: in 2019 he signed a four-year, $136.9 million extension.
In January 2024, Toronto traded him to Indiana for Bruce Brown Jr., Kira Lewis Jr., Jordan Nwora and three first-round picks. That July, the Pacers gave him a four-year, $188.95 million contract, every dollar of it guaranteed, which averages about $47.2 million a year.
The pay goes up each season. He made $42.2 million in 2024-25 and $45.6 million last season. This year it's $48.9 million, and in 2027-28 it reaches $52.3 million. After that, Spotrac lists him as a free agent in 2028.
That adds up to the $231 million. Net worth is a different question, because it's a guess at what he owns, and the guesses are far apart.
Spicy P, Red Bull And A Foundation In Cameroon
Away from the court, he has been easy for brands to like. His first big one came in 2020 with Nando's Canada, which launched a limited-edition hot sauce called Spicy P(ERi-PERi), named for his nickname and his heritage.
McDonald's Canada followed in early 2023 with the Siakam Swirl McFlurry, inspired by his signature spin move. Jif is on his list too.
Red Bull went all in. It gave him personal chefs and trainers, and it launched Siakam's World, a hoops challenge across Canada.
He also runs the PS43 Foundation, which helps kids in Cameroon get an education.
For a kid who wanted to play soccer, that's a long way from home, and his biggest paycheck is still ahead, in 2027-28.
