Proteas vs Australia: What fans can expect at Kingsmead

Not spending Heritage Day around the braai and heading to Kingsmead Stadium in Durban to watch the Proteas take on Australia?

The weather looks set to stay mostly mild, although an afternoon shower or thundershower could develop.

The first ODI of the three-match series gets under way on Thursday, 24 September, with Durban forecast to reach a maximum of 25°C.

Afternoon showers possible in Durban

According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), Durban will be partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Durban will see a minimum temperature of 20°C, while light to moderate southerly to south-westerly winds will ease and become light and variable by the evening.

The forecast does not indicate widespread rain, but spectators should prepare for a possible isolated shower during the afternoon.

What fans can expect

For those spending Heritage Day at Kingsmead, conditions should remain mild for much of the day. Although the possibility of an afternoon shower means it is worth keeping a rain jacket or umbrella handy.

The UVB sunburn index will be high, so spectators should use sun protection during the day.

The Proteas face Australia in the opening match of their home summer, with the second ODI scheduled for the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on 27 September.

The series will conclude at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom on 30 September.
