Krystle D’Souza says the time before ‘Shararat’ from ‘Dhurandhar’ was the lowest phase of her career: ‘I was lost’

Krystle D’Souza has spent close to two decades in the entertainment industry. Although she found success on television, her move to films was not without hurdles. Even with projects like ‘Chehre’ and ‘Visfot’ to her name, she went through a tough stretch professionally before the song ‘Shararat’ from ‘Dhurandhar’ arrived.

Its success proved to be a turning point for her. Recently, Krystle spoke about how “Shararat” came to her at one of the lowest points in her life.

Krystle D’Souza on ‘Dhurandhar’ being a gamechanger

Discussing the shift in her life after ‘Shararat’ became a hit, Krystle told SCREEN, “Dhurandhar was a gamechanger for me. I loved the response the song received. I didn’t expect even two percent of what has happened. It just blew up. Sometimes you go through such lows in life… People say right down there is rock bottom; I don’t believe so.

I believe right down there is a trampoline that pushes you right up. I was lost. I didn’t know where my life was going, where my career was headed.

Before Shararat, it was the lowest phase of my life. Out of nowhere, things changed. Life is good, work is good. Life is like a heartbeat; it goes up and down. I like that because if it’s a straight line, you would be dead.”

Krystle D’Souza on industry perception after ‘Shararat’

Asked whether the song’s success changed how the film industry sees her, she said, “I did not give the industry attention before, and I didn’t do so after the song.

For me, industry people or industry perception does not matter. I am a very closed person. I live in my own bubble with my family and a few friends. I can count the people I have in my life on my fingers, so anybody else’s opinion about me does not matter.”

‘Dhurandhar’: Plot and cast

In ‘Dhurandhar’, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, operating under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari, is dispatched to Lyari in Pakistan to bring down a terror outfit. He gains entry into a Baloch gang, weds the daughter of a local Lyari politician and embeds himself in the community to see the mission through. The original film opened in theatres on December 5, 2025, and ‘Dhurandhar 2’ arrived on March 19 this year. Ranveer, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor feature across the two films.
