After more than five years of waiting since the anime went on hiatus in 2021, Black Clover has finally given Asta the moment fans have been dying to see. The Dark Triad might have thought they had the Clover Kingdom backed into a corner, but they clearly forgot about one very loud, magicless kid who has made a habit of ruining everyone else's plans.

Episode 3, "Black Guardian," brought that point home when Zenon's Ancient Demon threatened to wipe out the Clover Kingdom's capital. Even Julius Novachrono, who temporarily regained his older form with Damnatio's help, couldn't finish the monster off before his Time Magic ran out. Luckily, Asta had one hell of an entrance planned. Fresh from training with Liebe, he finally showed off his Devil Union form and sliced the Ancient Demon in half like it was nothing.

And that's where things get really interesting. Asta's Devil Union comes with one pretty big catch: he only has five minutes to make it count. That's not much time when the enemy is the Dark Triad, and the Spade Kingdom is still crawling with threats. Meanwhile, Nacht is fighting for his life against Lilith and Naamah back in the Spade Kingdom. With Asta now ready to join the raid, the next episode could finally put the Dark Triad on the receiving end of a very bad day.

Black Clover season 2, episode #4, "The Day of Atonement," arrives on Crunchyroll on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 8:00 AM PT. New Japanese-subbed episodes drop every Saturday, while the English dub started on October 17, running just two weeks behind the Japanese broadcast. So there's a little more waiting for dub viewers, but at least the return of Asta and the Black Bulls is finally bringing the weekly anime routine back.

The next episode has a lot riding on Nacht. The Black Bulls' vice-captain faces one of Black Clover's strongest villains: Lilith and Naamah, two Supreme Devils whose ice-and-fire magic makes them a nightmare even for an experienced Magic Knight. Asta may have finally unlocked Devil Union with Liebe, but he still has to reach the front lines, and Nacht needs to survive long enough for that help to matter.

There's also more to Nacht than the cold, judgmental vice-captain who's always on the Black Bulls' case. "The Day of Atonement" digs into his history with devils, his twin brother Morgen, and his connection to Yami. That backstory should add some much-needed context to why Nacht is the way he is, just as his fight reaches a dangerous point.

Asta's Return Kicks Off A Massive Anime Weekend Alongside Bleach And Dragon Ball

The best thing about Black Clover's return is that the Spade Kingdom Raid isn't wasting time getting to the good stuff. Asta has finally shown off Devil Union with Liebe, but there's still a whole war to get through, and the Dark Triad aren't exactly going to roll over because he got a new form. With Nacht facing Lilith and Naamah, the next episode has another brutal fight to get through before the Black Bulls can turn the tables.

And for shonen fans, this weekend has plenty more to look forward to. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus continues on Sunday with its third episode, following Goku's first clash with the God of Destruction. Then Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity reaches its series finale on Monday, October 26, bringing Ichigo's battle against Yhwach to its end. Between Asta's Anti-Magic, Goku's rematch with a god, and Ichigo's final showdown, it's a pretty good few days for anyone who likes their anime fights turned up to eleven.
