One of Hulu's best-reviewed miniseries tells a gripping true story in 8 episodes, and the entire acclaimed drama takes less than seven hours to binge. Hulu and Disney+ subscribers looking for a critically acclaimed series that's actually worth their time should absolutely check this one out if they haven't already, especially because of its outstanding writing, casting, and overall entertainment value. Even though it was released four years ago, it still holds up as one of the very best shows on Hulu and Disney+ to binge-watch with ease.

The Dropout is one of the best miniseries to binge-watch on Hulu and Disney+, even though it originally premiered back in 2022. With the current success of You Can See Everything in theaters, the Elizabeth Holmes docudrama is trending once again on streaming and is available to start watching right now on Hulu and Disney+y+. The Dropout earned six Emmy nominations, including one win for Amanda Seyfried's lead performance portraying Holmes, and has a total runtime of 6 hours and 43 minutes across 8 episodes, making it an ideal length for a quick and worthwhile binge this week.

The Dropout Is One Of Hulu's Most Celebrated Miniseries

The Dropout is not only one of the best shows to binge on Hulu and Disney+, but it is quite literally one of the greatest miniseries that the streamer has ever produced. The Dropout earned a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 90% paired with a similarly strong RT audience score of 83%, making it a certified hit among both critics and viewers at home. The limited series also earned an impressive 7.5 IMDb score, with the majority of viewers noting Seyfried's remarkable performance as Holmes, the disgraced former founder of the health technology company Theranos. In fact, if there's only one reason to watch The Dropout, it's for Seyfried's Emmy-winning role.

The Dropout's 90% Rotten Tomatoes score was based on 97 reviews, with many critics applauding just how well executed the series is from start to finish, even though Holmes' stranger-than-fiction story has been well-documented and publicized. One surprising note is that The Dropout is not only a docudrama but can be darkly funny at times, which is actually one of the series' best features. Rolling Stone writes, "It’s a maddening, gripping, and at times startlingly funny recreation of a story that would feel too absurd to be true if we didn’t already know otherwise." Additionally, Newsday notes, "Great cast, fine performances, consistently entertaining."

The Dropout Takes Less Than 7 Hours To Binge-Watch

The Dropout is masterfully paced with a runtime that is less than 7 hours, which hits a perfect sweet spot for the type of docudrama such as this where the true story is so bizarre, it sounds like it had to have been made up. If the series had been restricted to a movie-length or 4-part runtime, it would have missed some key plot and character elements and would have been unable to properly tell the whole story. That said, if the series had extended to a 10-part format, it would have likely felt stretched, dragging the already well-known story across an unnecessarily long runtime.

The Dropout also carries the added draw of being based on a true story and essentially twisting the traditional success story on its head. Elizabeth Holmes seemed like a highly qualified individual who dropped out of her elite university to build a company that would revolutionize and disrupt the cutting edge of a major industry. It's almost as if Mark Zuckerberg left Harvard to create Facebook, only for the entire website to be a misleading, unusable scam. Whether you have or haven't seen the massively popular new documentary series about Holmes, You Can See Everything, in theaters now, The Dropout is one of the best miniseries to binge on Hulu and Disney+.
