Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond.

Star Trek: Enterprise remains one of the franchise's most beloved and simultaneously under-appreciated chapters, with Scott Bakula's portrayal of Captain Jonathan Archer taking fans into an entirely different era of Star Trek storytelling. Running from 2001 to 2005, the prequel series followed humanity's earliest deep-space adventures aboard the NX-01 Enterprise, decades before Kirk and Spock would embark on their own legendary voyages.

Although the series received a somewhat mixed reception during its original run, Enterprise has since developed a devoted and almost cult-like following, with fans praising its exploration of Starfleet's early history, original and memorable characters, and how it dove into the foundations of the United Federation of Planets.

While the upcoming film from John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein promises an entirely new cast of characters, moving beyond the Kelvin timeline established by J.J. Abrams' reboot trilogy, fans of Star Trek: Enterprise are still hoping for a proper revival of Scott Bakula's Captain Archer and his crew. After all, the series' premature cancellation in 2005 left plenty of unexplored territory in one of the franchise's most fascinating historical periods.

Fortunately, longtime fans of Bakula's Enterprise era also have something exciting to look forward to, as the beloved series is officially making its return this December.

Fans of Star Trek: Enterprise have an exciting reason to mark their calendars this December, as the beloved prequel series is officially returning to the spotlight through Star Trek Online. As part of the MMO's ongoing 60th-anniversary celebrations, developer Cryptic Studios has confirmed that the Terran NX Starship will arrive on PC in December 2026, bringing a famous piece of Captain Jonathan Archer's era back in style.

The announcement comes from the game's recently unveiled development roadmap, which outlines a series of updates celebrating different periods of Star Trek history. Although the original Enterprise series concluded more than two decades ago, its NX-01 remains one of the most recognizable vessels in the franchise, representing humanity's earliest attempts at exploring deep space.

However, the upcoming addition isn't exactly the same Enterprise commanded by Scott Bakula's Jonathan Archer. Instead, the Terran NX draws inspiration from the Mirror Universe, an alternate reality where the peaceful United Federation of Planets is replaced by the ruthless Terran Empire.

Longtime fans will recognize this connection from Enterprise's two-part fourth-season storyline, "In a Mirror, Darkly," which explored a dark alternative version of the familiar setting. The episodes followed the crew of the ISS Enterprise NX-01, including the ruthless Mirror Universe counterpart of Captain Archer, and ultimately involved the discovery of the USS Defiant, a powerful Federation starship displaced from another time and universe.

The Terran NX's upcoming appearance is therefore a particularly appropriate tribute to one of Enterprise's most memorable and beloved storylines. Although Cryptic has confirmed its planned December arrival on PC, additional details about the ship's capabilities and acquisition method have not yet been revealed just yet.

The release is also part of a much larger celebration unfolding throughout Star Trek Online. The game's latest season, Rediscovered, launched on PC on September 22, introducing a time-spanning adventure featuring multiple incarnations of Spock. Ethan Peck reprises his role as the younger Spock from Strange New Worlds, while Piotr Michael portrays an older version of the character. The update also incorporates archival dialogue from the legend himself, Leonard Nimoy, which is a fitting addition for the 60th anniversary release.

Beyond December's Enterprise tribute, Cryptic's roadmap extends into early 2027, with additional starships and content from several other Star Trek series, including Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Discovery, The Next Generation, Prodigy, and Starfleet Academy. For Star Trek: Enterprise fans, the Terran NX might not be the full-fledged television revival they've been hoping for, but it's a great chance to revisit one of the franchise's most distinctive eras and individual stories in one fell swoop.
