‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Season 2 Adds Bill Nighy, Rosemarie DeWitt in Guest Roles

Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt are set to guest star in “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” Season 2.

The announcement was revealed during the “Star Trek” panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday. Nighy will play Nahla’s (Holly Hunter) estranged father, Nyk Ake, while DeWitt will play Tarima’s (Zoë Steiner) mother, Laytha Sadal, the First Lady of Betazed.

First-look photos of the two new guest stars can be seen below.

The panelists for “Starfleet Academy” included Hunter, Sandro Rosta, Bella Shepard, Karim Diané, Robert Picardo and co-showrunners and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau. An exact premiere date is yet to be set, but the second season of the show will launch in March 2027 on Paramount+.

As Variety exclusively reported in March, Season 2 will be the show’s final season. The logline for “Starfleet Academy” Season 2 states that it “follows our cadets into their second year aboard the USS Athena. There, their ideals of leadership, friendship, romance and morality are put to the test as they navigate budding rivalries, shaky diplomatic negotiations, a fiercely competitive schoolwide tournament, and the arrival of a mysterious new cadet whose existence raises questions that could have consequences far beyond the classroom.”
