US Open 2026 Juniors — Maaya Rajeshwaran outclassed in girls doubles semifinal

India’s Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi and her Ukrainian partner Antonina Sushkova were beaten 6-7 [3], 2-6 by American duo Kristina Penickova and Annika Penickova in the US Open 2026 girls doubles semifinal on Friday.

The 17-year-old Indo-Ukrainian pair had beaten Russia’s fourth seeds Felitsata Dorofeeva-Rybas and Anna Pushkareva 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinal to reach the final four.

Mayaa, who trains at the Rafa Nadal Academy, had also reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Juniors this year.

The first set saw a tight battle, with both sides breaking serve once, and it petered into a tie-break. The American wildcards, who had committed 12 unforced errors in comparison to the opponent’s four, managed to keep it tight and take the first set.

The second was far more comfortable for the Americans, as they converted two available break points to seal their place in the summit clash.

The American pair, who won both the Australian Open and Wimbledon junior titles this year, will take on Russian pair Polina Berezina and Alisa Terentyeva in the final on Saturday.
