Bacolod ranks 3rd among PH’s fastest-growing economies

BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines — This city ranked third among the country’s highly urbanized cities with the fastest-growing economies in 2025, according to Mayor Greg Gasataya.
Gasataya, citing the 2025 Provincial Product Accounts report of the Philippine Statistics Authority, said in a Facebook post on Aug. 29 that Bacolod’s economy grew by 6.8 percent last year.
General Santos City topped the list with 8 percent growth, followed by Cagayan de Oro City at 7.4 percent.

Iloilo City ranked fourth at 6.1 percent, while the cities of Pasig and Cebu tied for fifth at 5.8 percent. Baguio City placed sixth at 5.6 percent.
Bacolod improved to third from sixth place in 2024, which Gasataya described as a major milestone despite economic challenges brought by the global oil crisis.
“We continue our work to maintain this momentum and ensure that this translates to more employment and business opportunities for Bacolodnons,” Gasataya said. /cb
