Kaizer Chiefs closing in on the signing of Bafana Bafana star?

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly closing in on the signing of Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

The 27-year-old is currently a free agent after parting ways with Tunisian giants Espérance last month.

According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi have identified the former Sekhukhune United star as a potential solution to their ongoing goal-scoring struggles.

Despite bringing in several new attacking players, Chiefs have struggled to find the back of the net consistently this season. They currently occupy fifth place on the Betway Premiership standings.

Chiefs eyeing Bafana star

Mokwana, who has represented Bafana Bafana at two major international tournaments, could offer Amakhosi additional pace, creativity and attacking threat.

Former PSL midfielder Mark Haskins believes the winger has the quality to make a difference at Naturena should the move materialise.

“I like him and definitely believe he will add value to that Kaizer Chiefs team,” Haskins said when discussing the possibility of Mokwana joining Amakhosi.

“I was actually shocked that he left the country without being pursued by some of the giants of local football. He was fantastic at Sekhukhune before leaving the country,” he added.

Mokwana previously made a name for himself in the PSL with Sekhukhune United before securing a move to Tunisia.

Whether Chiefs will complete a move for the Bafana Bafana international remains to be seen, with no official agreement confirmed at this stage. Amakhosi have Faiz Abrahams, Langelihle Phili, Asanele Velebayo, Wandile Duba and Pule Mmodi on the wing.
