Studio51 is developing the game. Shotaro Teshirogi, who wrote the Expelled from Paradise: mission.0 prequel novel for the original film, is writing the game's story. The game includes voice acting in all major scenes.

The game's website describes the game's story:

A.D. 2400. Ever since the Nano Hazard, a catastrophic event that laid waste to the surface world, 98% of humanity has abandoned both the ravaged Earth and their own flesh and blood to migrate to the virtual world of DEVA. Now, a strange new lifeform has suddenly begun sprouting on the surface: the Paraflora. As it spreads at alarming speed, colossal worms have started to appear nearby, attacking people one after another. At the heart of the outbreak lies Svarga, a desert town that was long ago abandoned due to a plague. Meanwhile, an agent of DEVA's Security Bureau has stolen Grey Goo, a top-secret file holding data on the Nano Hazard, and fled to the surface. Their trail, too, leads to Svarga. And now, in this ghost town shrouded in mystery and conspiracy, several competing agendas are about to converge.

The game's story uses a system dubbed as "K2-System," which divides choices players can make in the game's story into "Kizuna" (Bonds) and "Kakugo" (Resolve) choices. Kizuna choices emphasize the bonds that Angela makes in the surface world, while Kakugo choices emphasize Angela's resolve to see her mission through. Choices determine how the story branches into different routes, including bad ends.

The game will launch for the Switch and PC via Steam on November 26. The game is getting an English release. The game will have support in English and Japanese.
