Dhanush’s political entry buzz grows; ‘Om’ actor reportedly follows Vijay’s footsteps with statewide welfare plans

Dhanush has been making headlines due to speculation about the actor entering the political scene. This is because of his recent involvement in welfare schemes that resemble the path adopted by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who went from films to politics.

The actor has even taken steps to restructure his fan club and plans to create free tutoring centers in Tamil Nadu. However, this does not mean that he is getting ready for politics.

Dhanush’s political preparation

According to News18, Dhanush’s Narpani Iyakkam is planning to establish air-conditioned tuition centres for Class 10 and Class 12 students across all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu. The centres are expected to provide academic support, with three teachers and one assistant reportedly appointed at each location.

The organisation is said to be planning to cover their salaries. The initiative may begin in district headquarters before expanding across the state, with preparations expected to start in January. The plan has drawn comparisons with Vijay’s education-focused welfare activities before he entered politics. However, the proposed initiative does not confirm that Dhanush intends to launch a political party.

Dhanush follows Vijay’s footsteps as fan club becomes welfare movement

Dhanush’s recent organisational changes have further fuelled speculation about his political ambitions.

In July, the actor celebrated his birthday at Manjangaranai in Tiruvallur district, where welfare activities included educational assistance for students, the distribution of free autorickshaws and blood donation drives by fans.On October 14, a district-level meeting was held in Coimbatore, where his fan club was reportedly renamed the Dhanush Narpani Iyakkam. A flag and an emblem were also unveiled. The move has invited comparisons with Vijay, who developed his fan network into a welfare organisation before launching Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Dhanush’s growing organisational activity has now become a talking point among fans and political observers.

Dhanush’s meeting with women supporters adds to Tamil Nadu political buzz

The actor’s recent meeting with more than 2,000 women organisers in Chennai has added another dimension to the speculation. Supporters from several districts reportedly attended the gathering at Semmancheri, where Dhanush interacted with them and distributed silver Kamakshi lamps. The event attracted attention as his organisation continued to expand its activities.Political observers have suggested that the proposed education programme could help the actor connect with young people and first-time voters ahead of the 2031 Assembly elections. For now, Dhanush’s political entry remains unconfirmed. Whether his welfare initiatives will eventually lead to a formal political move remains to be seen.

Dhanush prepares for 'OM' release

Dhanush’s next release, 'OM – Chapter 1,' starring Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela, is scheduled to hit theatres on November 20, 2026. Meanwhile, he has started shooting for 'D56,' directed by Lubber Pandhu filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, in Madurai. The film also stars Vadivelu, SJ Suryah, and Preity Mukundhan and is expected to release in summer 2027.
