Nigerian correctional officer nabbed for drug smuggling

A Nigerian correctional officer, Michael Ademoye, has been arrested over an alleged smuggling of drug-paper into the prison where he worked at Wynn Unit, Texas in the United States.

In a statement by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Wednesday, Ademoye wanted to deliver drug-treated paper to an inmate.

The 28-year-old resident of Huntsville is facing charges bordering on drug manufacturing or delivery and bribery after he was nabbed by TDCJ.

The statement disclosed that Walker County jail records showed that the Nigerian was held on a $100,000 bond for the drug charge and a $50,000 bond for bribery.

“Ademoye entered the prison carrying more than four grammes of paper treated with synthetic cannabinoids, commonly known as K2. He told investigators he planned to deliver it to a specific inmate and had already been paid,” the statement said.

Employment records revealed that TDCJ recruited him in April 2025.

Consequently, the Wynne Unit praised Ademoye in a Facebook post and six other cadets for their “dedication and commitment,” for adapting into their roles and making a positive impact.
