Kylian Mbappe to miss El Clasico? Real Madrid injury latest after Zinedine Zidane update

The forward carried that form into the Nations League as he scored the only goal in France’s win over Turkey on Friday evening to help kickstart the Zinedine Zidane era.

However, Mbappe suffered an injury while scoring as instead of celebrating his record-extending 67th goal for France, he visibly looked in discomfort as he rubbed his left knee immediately after taking the shot.

Though, Mbappe initially returned to the pitch after receiving treatment, he quickly went down again and had to be substituted.

It has since been confirmed by the French Football Federation confirmed that Mbappe suffered a tendon injury, with Zidane confirming his captain has withdrawn from the squad.

"No, it's not good. It's not good, unfortunately," Zidane told French television. "He will have to go back. We will not take risks, he has extended his knee when he took the shot. It's not very encouraging."

Will Mbappe miss El Clasico?

That gives the Frenchman a month to recover from his tendon injury, though Real Madrid have not yet confirmed a timeframe after providing an injury report.

A statement reads: “After the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by Real Madrid's Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee. Awaiting evolution.”

Initial reports have claimed Mbappe will be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks. If that timeline is accurate, the 27-year-old WILL be fit to face the current LaLiga leaders at the Camp Nou.

Another home game against Sevilla is sandwiched between Champions League clashes against Roma and RB Leipzig before the big game away at Barcelona.
