Why Kim Kardashian's Candid Quotes on Motherhood Are Amazing, Sweetie

Kim Kardashian is North West’s Twin in Jaw-Dropping Halloween Makeover
Kim Kardashian is free to change her look on a whim. As for her parenting style, she suspects it's too late for a makeover.
"Sometimes, I'm like, 'Damn, I wish I could do it all over,'" she admitted on a 2024 episode of The Kardashians. "The one thing I would do is be so strict from the start."
Cue North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7, breathing a sigh of relief.
But that's just vintage Kim—who's turning 46 on Oct. 21 and recently described herself as "intermediate-strict," as well as "extremely patient and loving"—turning her discerning eye on how she's gone about raising the four kids she shares with ex-husband Kanye "Ye" West.
Over the years she's been candid about everything from her pregnancy complications with North and Saint (Chicago and Psalm were born via surrogate) to her eldest child's precocity—"Who intimidates me?" she quipped in 2021. "Maybe just my daughter North"—but there's nothing Kim loves more than being a mom.
"It is the most rewarding job in the entire world," she said on a 2023 episode of On Purpose With Jay Shetty. It's impossible to be truly prepared, but, she added, "it will make you so proud of yourself that you figured it out and that you got through the day."

Then, however, there are the nights, and Kim—who filed to divorce Ye in 2021 after seven years of marriage—has admitted that she can feel alone, even when she's surrounded by kids.
"In the middle of the night when they’re all in your bed, kicking you, crying, and waking up—it’s not something I talk about a lot," Kim said on a November 2024 episode of Zoe Winkler's What in the Winkler? podcast. “People will be quick to say, ‘Oh, but you have nannies and help.' And I just think that, no matter what kind of help I have, I’m basically raising four kids by myself.”
Driving the carpool to school, she continued, "everyone wants to leave at different times or wants different stuff. I feel like I’m at a pit stop of a race car driver.”
Which, incidentally, may have unwittingly prepared her to date F1 champion Lewis Hamilton.
Meanwhile, Kim's own pit crew includes five nannies, though usually just one is on duty at any given time.
"Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be like a more true statement," she told Jay Shetty, and sometimes it's "full madness" at her house.
But, she added, it's the "best chaos."

She noted, "Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be like a more true statement. So, like, when you’re in it, I mean, especially when they’re babies and you’re feeding ... there’s madness going on. It’s like full madness. It’s the best chaos, though."

Kim Kardashian Gets Real About Pregnancy Complications.
"You know it was really hard for me to get pregnant so I do feel really blessed that I am pregnant," she told E! News in November 2015, "and at the end of the day it is a million times worth it."
But after suffering from placenta accreta, when the placenta attaches too deep in the uterine wall, while pregnant with Saint and North, she looked to a surrogate to have Chicago in 2018 and Psalm in 2019.
"It’s honestly what people would die from in childbirth, so you have to get the placenta out within a certain amount of time and you just can internally bleed," Kim shared in 2020 on divorce lawyer Laura Wasser's podcast All's Fair. "So, there’s no choice—this is so graphic and gross — but [the doctor] had to literally cut the placenta off with his hands, with his fingernails, inside of you. And it left a hole in my uterus, and so that muscle doesn’t grow back."
