How to watch the One Piece anime & movies in order

Even with over 1,100 anime episodes, movies, and OVAs to enjoy, it’s best to watch the many One Piece arcs in order if you want the best viewing experience of the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventure; and you’ll need to know where to watch them all, too.

Ever since the adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga first debuted back in 1999, numerous massive arcs have hit our screens. Across all these episodes, it can get very easy to get either put off — or even lose your place if you end up switching streaming services.

What’s more, even if they’re not canon to the core anime, there are the various films and the live-action Netflix series you can factor in, as well.

Here’s the complete list of One Piece arcs in order for the anime, and exactly where to watch all the episodes.

This order of arcs for One Piece has been confirmed using the episode guide by Crunchyroll and our own expertise at Radio Times.

Considering the fact that this series includes more than 1,150 episodes already, you may be tempted to jump in halfway through.

However, we recommend starting at the beginning and watching One Piece in the order it was released, so you can fully appreciate the story's impact.

Keep in mind that, besides any that essentially retell/recap previous events, any of the One Piece specials and movies aren’t actually canon to the anime’s timeline.

As we’ve figured out where each one-off episode or film does fit into the anime’s many episodes, you should still give them a watch if you wish to purely experience more One Piece. That said, you can still skip them if you’re not too bothered about non-canon material.

How to watch One Piece without filler

In a similar vein to specials and films that aren’t canon to the One Piece anime, said anime also had filler episodes: those which aren’t canon to the manga, and were originally added to give Oda more time to create new manga chapters for the show to adapt.

Although they’re not canon to both the manga and anime, there’s still a correct way to watch all of One Piece’s 15 movies in order — if you want to enjoy as much from the franchise as possible.

For each film, there’s an ideal point of the One Piece anime it portrays where you can sandwich it in between installments:

Be that as it may, with all of the One Piece movie choices, the quality will be much higher for some films than others. If you want to try out a One Piece film, but only if they’re among the best, these are currently the top five rated by IMDB (but re-ordered by release year):

How to watch Netflix's live-action One Piece

Both season 1 and season 2 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece adaptation can be watched at any time, since it’s acting as a new take on the East Blue Saga (up to the Arlong Park Arc) and Alabasta Saga (up to the Drum Island Arc) respectively; this means even a newcomer to anime altogether can jump into Netflix and watch with no prerequisite.

That said, if you’re balancing both the One Piece anime and live-action Netflix show to see how the two compare, Radio Times recommends watch each season of the latter at these points:

• Live-action One Piece season 1 — watch after episode 45 of the anime
• Live-action One Piece season 2 — watch after episode 91 of the anime

Averaging almost an hour each for its eight episodes per season, the live-action One Piece does skip or remix a lot of the material from both the manga and anime. Because of this, we do recommend watching the anime first to give you extra context.

Do I need to watch One Piece to understand Netflix's The One Piece anime reboot?

For the upcoming remake of One Piece — an anime collab between Netflix and legendary Attack on Titan studio, WIT Studio — you don't need to have seen the original One Piece anime first.

They're the same story, and the main difference is that the new reboot will have a more modern anime style than the series that began in the late '90s.

Where to watch One Piece in the US & UK

As has usually been the case with major shows like this, the best place to watch One Piece in both the UK and US is Crunchyroll — with all 1,178 episodes (at the time of writing) available to watch in both regions with subtitles.

Also on Crunchyroll, the latest English dubbed One Piece episodes — up to episode 1155 — are available to watch there in the US, as well. In the UK, however, this differs ever so slightly.

In the United Kingdom, as confirmed by Radio Times in our own research, only episode 325 of One Piece on Crunchyroll is available in the English dub.

Netflix UK also has One Piece, but has only the dubbed episodes up to 102, skips most of the others, then has episodes 1089-1122 in Japanese. We suspect this is because, until recently, dubbed One Piece in the UK was only streaming on BBC iPlayer as part of an exclusivity deal.

As of July 2026, as pointed out by Advanced Television, that exclusivity seems to have reached its end date; however, if you want to watch the latest One Piece episodes in the UK with the English dub (again, up to episode 1155), you’ll still need to use BBC iPlayer.

Alternative streaming services for One Piece in the US and UK

The One Piece anime is also available on US Netflix with the live-action version; a drawback, though, is that the Netflix in that region is missing episodes 878-1088 — and only has the dubs for the first 878 episodes.

Another go-to for the One Piece anime in the US is Hulu, but that only has the first 852 episodes — and only the English dub.
