在訪美行程的最後一天，中國國家主席習近平伉儷在美國總統特朗普（Donald Trump；川普）伉儷陪同下參觀國家檔案館，然後啟程回國。
在參觀前，特朗普與習近平星期五（9月25日）還在白宮茶敘——特朗普5月份訪華時，習近平也曾在北京中南海舉行茶敘。
今年是美國獨立建國250週年，美國國家檔案館收藏了《美國憲法》、《美國獨立宣言》、《美國權利法案》等歷史悠久的重要文件。
