Ruto Announces KSh25 Billion for Road Projects in Nandi County
President William Ruto has announced a KSh25 billion allocation for road construction across Nandi County, with 350 kilometres of roads set to be developed under 14 new projects.
Speaking during a development visit to the county, Ruto said six of the projects would be implemented in Aldai Constituency as part of the government’s infrastructure expansion programme.
The President also announced plans to allocate KSh2.1 billion towards connecting 23,000 additional households to the national electricity grid before May 2027.
Government Targets 350km of Roads
Ruto said the road projects were part of his administration’s commitment to fulfilling development pledges made to residents.
“A promise is a debt, and I am in Nandi County today to deliver on our development pledges,” he said.
According to the President, the 14 projects will cover a combined 350 kilometres, with six roads earmarked for Aldai Constituency.
The projects are intended to improve transport links, ease movement and support economic activities across the county.
23,000 Households to Receive Electricity Connections
The government has also set aside KSh2.1 billion to extend electricity access to 23,000 additional households in Nandi County.
Ruto said the connections were expected to be completed before May 2027.
The initiative is aimed at expanding access to electricity for households while supporting businesses and other economic activities in the region.
Affordable Housing Project for Kaptumo
The President also highlighted the government’s Affordable Housing Programme, announcing the construction of a nine-storey residential tower in Kaptumo.
Ruto said the project would create employment opportunities for young people while bringing modern housing developments closer to local communities.
He argued that the national housing programme had made it possible to undertake developments of this scale in areas such as Kaptumo.
“Without this national program, a modern development of this scale would not be in Kaptumo today,” he said.
Ruto maintained that his administration would continue implementing development projects at the grassroots level, focusing on infrastructure, electricity access and housing.
