Orania’s mystery EFF voter strikes again in Elections 2026 – VIDEO

Translate

There is apparently still an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporter in Orania – and they have once again made their mark at the ballot box.

The small Northern Cape town, known for its strong Afrikaner cultural identity and overwhelming support for the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), recorded just one vote for the EFF during the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The result has revived interest in Orania’s mystery EFF voter, who also attracted attention during the 2024 national and provincial elections.

According to the results from the Orania Town Hall voting station, the FF Plus secured a commanding 405 votes, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) with 44.

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) received five votes, while the EFF and Patriotic Alliance (PA) each received one. The ANC failed to register a vote at the station.

The identity of the person who voted for the EFF remains unknown.

Orania’s EFF voter makes it two elections in a row

The latest result is particularly interesting because the EFF also received just one vote at an Orania voting station during the 2024 general elections.

That result sparked plenty of reaction on social media, with users joking about the identity of the mystery voter and celebrating the person’s apparent political defiance.

The 2026 result has brought the jokes back, with social media users once again expressing admiration for the unidentified EFF supporter.

There is, however, no confirmation that the same person cast both votes.

Why is the EFF vote in Orania attracting attention?

Orania was established in 1991 as a settlement intended to preserve Afrikaner culture, language and self-determination.

The town’s political identity has long attracted national attention, particularly because of its approach to cultural preservation and residency.

The EFF has been among the most vocal critics of Orania, previously launching its “Orania Must Fall” campaign and questioning whether the settlement’s model is compatible with South Africa’s constitutional commitment to non-racialism and equality.

The FF Plus, meanwhile, has traditionally enjoyed strong support in the town.

Against that backdrop, even a single EFF vote has become a talking point.

For now, the identity of Orania’s mystery EFF voter remains a secret – but the red berets have once again appeared on the town’s election results.

Do you think this lone EFF voter is taking the mick – or a genuine Julius Malema supporter?
