Harry Potter fans are living the good life this year, with several exciting updates for the franchise. The recent Audible Full-Cast Audio Editions were a huge hit among longtime Potterheads, while the upcoming release of HBO's official new series is one of the most anticipated television events of the year, set to release on Christmas Day for a proper season's greetings celebration.

The new series will reportedly adapt the Harry Potter books much more faithfully than the acclaimed films ever were able to, with each season expected to devote significantly more time to characters, storylines, and details that were previously cut for time. Rowling herself is also directly involved with the project as an executive producer, giving the original author a hand in shaping this latest interpretation of the Wizarding World as it makes the leap back to the screen.

However, Potter fans have even more to be excited about, as JK Rowling is officially releasing two new Harry Potter books on February 23, 2027.

Harry Potter's literary world is officially expanding again in 2027, with two new entries in Bloomsbury's Pocket Potters collection scheduled to arrive on February 23, 2027. The upcoming books will put Professor Minerva McGonagall and the Weasley twins (Fred and George) in the spotlight, giving three of Hogwarts' most beloved and unique characters their own illustrated children's books.

While these aren't necessarily new mainline Harry Potter novels from Rowling, Pocket Potters – Little Guides to the Harry Potter Stories is a collectible series designed to introduce individual characters and their most important moments from the existing books. Each volume combines story details, quotes, trivia, Easter eggs, and colorful artwork, making them accessible to younger readers who are entering the Wizarding World for the first time, with plenty on offer for the more seasoned Potterheads as well.

You can pre-order the Pocket Potter Professor McGonagall book here, and Fred and George Weasley here.

Professor McGonagall, illustrated by Natalie Smillie, will revisit the longtime Hogwarts professor's story while touching on details including her role as Head of Gryffindor House, her Animagus abilities, and memorable moments such as purchasing Harry his first racing broom.

Meanwhile, Fred and George Weasley, illustrated by Helen Brady, leans into the twins' more mischievous side, covering their knowledge of Hogwarts' secret passages, magical inventions such as Canary Creams, and the antics that ultimately lead toward Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Mischief officially managed!

Both books are 32-page hardcovers, continuing the compact format established by the rest of the collection. They will expand a series that already includes character guides devoted to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Dumbledore, Luna Lovegood, Hagrid, and Dobby. Hagrid and Dobby joined the lineup in August 2026, and with these new additions, the full lineup totals nine unique collectible illustrated "guides."

Bloomsbury currently has both books at a roughly £10 UK retail price with a £3 discount available for a limited time, while Amazon has them up for $12 USD and a slightly later release date of March 7. Pre-orders are already available ahead of their official February launch.

These new books are pretty clear indicators that Pocket Potters is becoming an ongoing line, which means more beloved characters are likely on the way at some point down the road. For now, though, these new Pocket Potters are just another reason for Harry Potter fans to be excited about the franchise's future.

Harry Potter is a multimedia franchise about an orphaned boy who enrolls at Hogwarts School of Wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family, and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world. Adapted from the novels, Harry Potter is an eight-episode film saga that follows the journey of Harry Potter and his friends, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley, as they navigate the tricky world of growing up, school life, and magic. Starting from year one and moving to their seventh year, the films chronicle the students' time at Hogwarts while unfurling a sinister plot that centers around the unsuspecting Harry. With the return of the dark wizard, Voldemort, the students and professors at Hogwarts will fight to carry on as the world around them may change forever. Harry Potter has expanded beyond the world of its films and novels with several video games, a spin-off film series titled Fantastic Beasts, and even attractions at Universal Studios.
