CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Three individuals were arrested for transporting fish allegedly caught using explosives after authorities intercepted a vehicle carrying 47 boxes of assorted fish at a checkpoint in Brooke’s Point, Palawan, on Wednesday.

The suspects were apprehended along the National Highway in Barangay Maasin by the Philippine National Police Maritime Group’s 2nd Special Operations Unit (2nd SOU), in coordination with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and other government agencies.

Authorities said the fish samples tested positive for traces indicating the use of explosives in catching them.
