Former SABC sports presenter Owen Ndlovu found dead after kidnapping

Former SABC sports presenter Owen Ndlovu has been found dead after he was allegedly hijacked and kidnapped in Katlehong, on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Ndlovu was attacked on Tuesday night while he was on his way to fetch his wife from a church service.

Drove off with the victim

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said three unknown men, one reportedly armed with a firearm, approached Ndlovu and his wife.

“As she approached their vehicle, three unknown men, one reportedly armed with a firearm, suddenly approached them, pushed her aside and forced her husband into the back seat of his Ford Raptor bakkie. The suspects then drove off with the victim,” said Nevhuhulwi.

Owen Ndlovu was subsequently found dead in Thokoza on Wednesday.

Nevhuhulwi said his body was discovered dumped next to the road.

“Postmortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death,” she said.

Bakkie recovered

The Ford Raptor was later recovered abandoned in Walkerville.

Police in Katlehong have launched a manhunt for the three suspects involved in the incident.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help identify or locate the suspects to come forward.

“Anyone with information that could assist police in locating the victim or identifying and arresting the suspects is urged to contact the Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111 or provide anonymous tip-offs on MySapsApp which can be downloaded on any smartphone,” said Nevhuhulwi.

Owen Ndlovu was also known for his work as a music rights activist.
