Who is Mary Fowler?

Mary Boio Fowler was born in February 2003 in Cairns, Queensland. She is the third-born of five children and grew up playing football with them. Fowler was selected to play for the Queensland state under-12s team when she was just 10 years old.

Fowler made her debut for Adelaide United in their first match of the 2019-2020 season. In 2020, on her 17th birthday she signed her first major overseas contract of three years with the French club Montpellier HSC and moved there. She was featured on ESPN's 21 Under 21 global list in May 2021.

In June 2022, Fowler signed a four-year contract with the club Manchester City. At the time of her first season with them, Fowler's mental health struggles had reached a high point because she spent most of it on the substitutes' bench.
