Lawmaker backed for Kwara APC deputy gov
Prominent leaders, elder statesmen, and captains of industry from the Offa community in Kwara State have endorsed the lawmaker representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, Seun Ogunniyi, as the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement took place on the sidelines of the public presentation of The Unexplained Wealth Trilogy, authored by constitutional lawyer Dr Wahab Shittu (SAN), held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The gathering, chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, brought together high-net-worth professionals and community leaders from Offa who resolved to back the lawmaker to ensure cohesive representation and sustainable growth for Kwara South and the state.
Among the prominent Offa stakeholders who backed Ogunniyi at the Lagos gathering were an industrialist, Dr AWA Ibraheem; the Asiwaju of Offa, Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi; Rafiu Lawal-Rabana (SAN); a community leader, Alhaji Bola Oyebode; a former Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr Waheed Olagunju; Dr Layi Bello; Dr Remi Oni; Dr Wahab Shittu (SAN); and a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Azeez Bukoye.
Speaking on behalf of his campaign after the engagement, Ogunniyi expressed gratitude for the vote of confidence reposed in him.

“I am profoundly honoured and humbled to receive the collective endorsement of our leaders gathered here at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos,” Ogunniyi said.
“These leaders have each served as pillars of mentorship to me, remaining beacons of leadership, integrity, and selfless service to our community, state, and nation,” he added.
“This expression of trust reinforces our dedication to service under the APC banner, and we remain firmly committed to moving Kwara State forward through progressive governance and genuine stakeholder engagement,” he noted.
The endorsement consolidates community support for the party in Kwara South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwara South Senatorial District, which encompasses the Offa, Oyun, Ifelodun, Isin, Ekiti, Oke Ero and Irepodun local government areas, remains a major political battleground in Kwara State politics, where community endorsement blocks and traditional power brokers routinely influence party ticket balancing and zonal representation ahead of general elections.
