India vs Pakistan in men’s volleyball quarterfinals in Asian Games 2026

India will face Pakistan in the Asian Games 2026 men’s volleyball quarterfinal at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium on Thursday.

India entered the last-eight by topping Pool C with three wins from three games. Meanwhile, Pakistan qualified for the knockout stage by finishing second in Pool A, behind Japan.

The India-Pakistan clash will start at 6:30 a.m. on October 1. While India is currently ranked 48th in the world, Pakistan is placed 39th.

At the last Asian Games in Hangzhou, Pakistan beat India in straight sets in the fifth-place classification game. In 2025, India pulled one back over its arch rival with a straight-sets win in a Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nations League match.

India has not won a volleyball medal at the Asian Games in 40 years, with its last success coming in 1986, when it claimed bronze in South Korea. It has two other medals to its name: bronze in 1958 and silver in 1962.

On Tuesday, India had stunned higher-ranked Qatar in their final group-stage game. The Indian spikers came from two sets down and saved nine match points in the final set to seal a memorable win.
