BI rate holds at 5.75 percent, deposit facility rate at 5 percent

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 5.75 percent on Wednesday, while raising its deposit facility rate by 25 basis points to 5 percent, Governor Destry Damayanti said.
The central bank also kept its lending facility rate unchanged at 6.5 percent.
“The decision is reinforced by an increase in policy incentives for hedging instruments under the Domestic Non-Deliverable Forward (DNDF) scheme with Bank Indonesia,” she said during a press conference here.
The move aims to attract foreign capital inflows, maintain rupiah exchange rate stability, and deepen the domestic money and foreign exchange markets, Damayanti said.
Damayanti said the monetary policy remained consistent with the strategy of stabilizing the rupiah amid mounting external pressures, while maintaining the inflation target of 2.5 plus or minus 1 percent in 2026 and 2027.
Bank Indonesia will continue to optimize various monetary policy instruments to strengthen external resilience, including taking necessary adjustment measures to ensure consistency in maintaining economic stability, she added.
