El Clásico: UNILAG to host watch party as Barcelona face Real Madrid

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) will host a watch party on Sunday for the first El Clásico of the 2026/27 season, as Barcelona look to strengthen their position at the top of LaLiga against arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The watch party organised by StarTimes and Meridianbet will hold at King Jaja Hall begining from 6 p.m., ahead of the 9 p.m. kick-off.
It will feature entertainment, fan activities and giveaways, with supporters expected to attend in their preferred club colours.
StarTimes Nigeria Marketing Director, Oke Umurhohwo, said the event would give supporters an opportunity to watch the match together.
“Football is more exciting when fans experience it together, and few matches generate as much passion as El Clásico. At StarTimes, we want to go beyond broadcasting the game to creating opportunities for fans to connect, celebrate their clubs and enjoy the excitement of football in a memorable atmosphere.
“Our partnership with Meridianbet allows us to bring this experience closer to football lovers at UNILAG, combining live football, entertainment and fan engagement in one exciting evening,” he said.
Sunday’s encounter at Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou carries early implications for the LaLiga title race. Barcelona have won all nine of their league matches and lead Real Madrid by six points.

A victory would extend Barcelona’s advantage to nine points, while a Real Madrid win would cut the gap to three.
Barcelona head into the fixture after their winning run across competitions was ended by Paris Saint-Germain, who beat them 4-2 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The defeat did not affect their perfect league record but adds another test ahead of their meeting with their biggest rivals.
Real Madrid will aim to capitalise on Barcelona’s European setback, close the gap at the top and gain an advantage in the title race.
While entry to the UNILAG watch party is free, the match will also be broadcasted on StarTimes Sports channels.
