NFL Trade Targets: Three Surprising Names To Watch Before The Deadline

The NFL trade market has already had its first wave. Indianapolis Colts stars Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner are gone, and the Tennessee Titans sent Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears. Now comes the quiet part, where surprise deals tend to land. With the deadline set for next Tuesday, front offices are sorting through who helps them win and who simply costs too much. A few unexpected names sit right on that line. Some are injured, some are buried on the depth chart, and some are unhappy fits. Here is who could move, and why.
Why Breece Hall And The New York Jets Could Part Ways
Hall signed a new deal this offseason, and at 25 he fits the Jets' rebuild on paper. Yet a nagging groin injury has kept him out since Week 3, and Braelon Allen has used that time to take over the backfield. That shift matters. Trading Hall would free more than $10 million in cap space, so a team hunting for premium draft picks could get the Jets to listen. The running back market is already busy, with Tony Pollard and Jonathan Taylor also available to needy teams like the Minnesota Vikings or the New York Giants.

The Las Vegas Raiders face a different problem with Ashton Jeanty. He is averaging 3.1 yards per carry entering Week 8, and his public comments about the Jets' tackling did not help. Coach Klint Kubiak's staff started Mike Washington Jr. and moved Jeanty to third downs. A staff with no attachment to a recent top pick may happily take something back.
How Tua Tagovailoa And Jacoby Brissett Could Reshape The Quarterback Market
Quarterback injuries across the league could turn two backups into hot property. The Atlanta Falcons invested in Tua Tagovailoa to sit behind Michael Penix, who was healthy again by the time Tagovailoa recovered from his own injury and returned after missing the first two games. That leaves a costly spare part on Kevin Stefanski's roster. The Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens stand out as logical suitors because of their own injury trouble.
The Arizona Cardinals offer another route. Jacoby Brissett is a steady, low-risk starter, and with only two wins, Arizona can look at Carson Beck instead. A mid-round pick could do it, especially for a Ravens team trying to hold its ground in the AFC North if Jackson misses extended time.
Keep an eye on Courtland Sutton of the Denver Broncos too. He has 16 catches for 168 yards in seven games since the Jaylen Waddle trade, and contenders short on receivers may come calling.
