10ID honors 78 CAFGU retirees, integrates them into Reserve Force

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — After decades on the frontlines against insurgency, 78 members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division (10ID) traded their active duty status for reserve roles, receiving separation gratuity pay in a first-of-its-kind ceremony in Davao de Oro.
In a statement on Monday, Maj. Ruben Gadut, 10ID spokesperson, said the division formally honored the retired CAFGU personnel — five of whom had served for 38 years — at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Mawab town.
“Now integrated into the Reserve Force, they remain potential partners for humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and external security operations,” Gadut said.

During active duty, the CAA personnel served as crucial force multipliers for defense and security. They helped sustain insurgency-free zones as grassroots forces in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and bolstered community vigilance in coastal communities to protect Philippine sovereignty, including rights in the West Philippine Sea.

Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, 10ID commander, led the recognition rites and thanked the auxiliaries for their decades of sacrifice and service to the country.
He noted the gratuity pay reflects the Agila Division’s deep gratitude for their role in the military’s mission.
“This serves as a tribute to the service you have dedicated to our Armed Forces and to the nation,” he said.
The 10ID noted that the integration to the Reserve Force underscores the military’s stance that service to the nation extends beyond active duty. /das
