India has sent 54 shooters to the ISSF World Championship 2026 in Doha, Qatar, with two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker leading the challenge. The event brings together over 1,000 shooters from 90 NOCs, plus neutral athletes.
The championship, which gets underway from November 3, is the biggest qualification opportunity of the LA28 cycle for shooting.
Three quota places are available in each of the 12 individual Olympic events, 36 in all. India has 35 shooters in these events, while the other 19 compete in non-Olympic events.
The quota places go to the country, and athletes final participation at LA28 depends on selections by the National Olympic Committees of each nation.
Neeru Dhanda arrives in top form after two golds and a silver in trap at the Asian Games. Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet Sohlot won mixed 10m air pistol gold there, while Elavenil Valarivan and Himanshu Dhillon took rifle silver.
Manu Bhaker is doubling up in the women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol. She will look to bounce back after missing out on a medal at the Asian Games. Paris 2024 bronze medallist Swapnil Kusale is entered only in the non-Olympic men’s 50m rifle prone, and Sarabjot Singh was not selected.
