Shinji Ohara launched a new manga titled Moto-Shojo Tantei, Yamada Chizuko: Saigo no Jiken kara Sūjūnengo (Former Girl-Detective, Chizuko Yamada: A Few Decades After the Final Case) on Shogakukan's Yawaraka Spirits platform on September 30.

The story follows Kazuo Sasauchi, a young man who moves to Osaka to attend college and therefore moves into in an old western-styled house there. He meets the house's owner who is his great-aunt: the kimono-wearing, cigarette-smoking Chizuko Yamada. She is a former girl-detective whose past returns to haunt her.

Ohara ended the first Chiko, Heiress of the Phantom Thief (Nijū-Mensō no Musume) manga in 2007 after five years and eight volumes. Ohara launched the spinoff series Nijū-Mensō no Musume: Utsushiyo Yoru in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Flapper in October 2007. Kadokawa published the 11th and final volume in 2014. The stories are loosely based on the Kaijin Nijū-Mensō (The Fiend with 20 Faces) novels by the famed suspense and detective novelist, Ranpo Edogawa. The first manga series inspired a television anime in April 2008.
