Man United Legend Linked With Ghana’s Coaching Job

Translate

Manchester United legendary striker and former Trinidad and Tobago international Dwight Yorke is interested in coaching Ghana Black Stars.

The 54-year-old Trinidad and Tobago legend boasts an impressive football résumé, having won the UEFA Champions League, three Premier League titles and the FA Cup during his illustrious spell at Manchester United.

“If they [Ghana] want something new, something dynamic then, the front-foot type of football that I have studied over the years,” he told his local representative as reported by Ghana Soccernet.

Yorke was a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s historic 1998-99 treble-winning side and fondly remembered for his formidable attacking partnership with Andy Cole.

He holds a UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in European football, having completed his coaching education while working with Manchester United’s youth set-up at Carrington.

His qualifications include the UEFA A and B licences, giving him a formal foundation for a career in management.

His first major assignment came in July 2022 when he took charge of Australian A-League outfit Macarthur FC.

Yorke made an immediate impact, guiding the Bulls to their maiden Australia Cup triumph in his debut season.

He was appointed head coach of Trinidad and Tobago in November 2024, the country he captained at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

But his managerial stint ended in March 2026 after Trinidad and Tobago failed to qualify for the World Cup, winning four of 18 matches during his tenure.

His coaching journey has also included assistant managerial roles with Sunderland and Trinidad and Tobago, giving him exposure to different football environments.
