IND-A vs AUS-A 1st One-Day Game: Tejal, Anushka guide India to four-wicket win

After being handed a 0-3 drubbing in the T20 leg of the series, India A bounced back with a four-wicket win over Australia A in the first One-Day fixture at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Sunday.

Yastika Bhatia, who returned from a stint at the Women’s Caribbean Premier League, is back leading the India A outfit and won the toss and opted to field.

Rachale Trenaman and Tahlia Wilson stitched a fluent 81-run opening stand before Amandeep Kaur removed Trenaman in the final delivery of the 16th over for a 53-ball 36. Wilson fell two runs short a half century when she was removed by Vaishnavi Sharma in the 19th over.

Katie Mack (23 off 39) and Charlie Knott (39 off 27) then stitched a crucial 54-ball 62-run stand for the third wicket before the duo fell in the span of just eight runs. From there, the Australian innings withered away, with the visitors finally bowled out for 235 in 46.3 overs.

Nikki Prasad (3/28) and Vaishnavi (3/40) led the charge with the ball, with Amandeep -- playing her first game of the tour -- taking two scalps. Sayali Satghare also snapped up a wicket.

In response, India A’s chase got off to a horror start, reduced to 46/3 in the 10th over. Tejal Hasabnis (81 off 82) and Anushka Sharma (55 off 61) stitched a 126-run stand for the third wicket to steady the ship. Both had a middling run in the T20 series but found their groove in the 50-over format. Nikki and Sayali then stitched a 45-ball 40-run stand for the sixth wicket to set up the win for India with over eight overs to spare.

Tess Flintoff and Frankie Nicklin took two wickets each for the Aussies.
