190 foreigners held in Pudu entertainment centre raid early today

Translate

The immigration department detained 190 foreigners and two local men in a raid on an entertainment centre in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, early today following public complaints about disturbances to public order.

Immigration department deputy director-general (enforcement) Basri Othman said the centre was operating just 10 metres from a mosque, Bernama reported.

He said the centre had several rooms to entertain customers, with 50 to 60 cramped into each one.

Basri said 99 men and 91 women, aged between 20 and 41, were rounded up. He said 188 of them were Indonesians, while two were from Bangladesh and India.

The two local men detained were believed to be the employer and caretaker of the centre.

Basri said many of those detained had overstayed and did not possess valid travel documents. He suspected immoral activities were taking place at the centre, with discovery of condoms.

All those detained were taken to an immigration detention depot for documentation and investigation.
