2027: NDC vows legal action over omitted candidates

Translate

ABUJA — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to use every available legal means to ensure the restoration of its governorship candidates’ names on the list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party’s position follows the omission of some of its governorship candidates from the electoral commission’s list.

Speaking with Vanguard on Sunday, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the party was looking into the matter and would pursue all available legal options to resolve it.

“The NDC is looking into the matter and will use every available legal means to ensure our candidates’ names are restored on the list,” Director said.

He noted that INEC had reportedly issued a statement indicating that some states experienced glitches, adding that the commission had promised further clarification in the coming days.

The party’s position comes amid preparations for the 2027 elections, with the restoration of the omitted candidates’ names expected to be a key issue in its engagement with INEC.
