Game Of Thrones Officially Brings Back Jon Snow And The Night King For Epic Showdown

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

Regardless of how we may all feel about that controversial ending, there is no denying the impact that Game of Thrones has had, not just on television, but media as a whole. Airing for eight seasons, and giving its dedicated fanbase 73 episodes of political intrigue, sex, blood, and death, the show, based off the works of George R.R. Martin, soon became a cultural phenomenon.

Now, seven years on from the final episode, and Game of Thrones still remains a household name. Not only has it since welcomed two equally-as-successful spin-off shows, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but it has also begun creeping up into the video game sphere.

On top of hit mobile games, Game of Thrones: Legends RPG and Game of Thrones: Conquest, a real-time strategy game is also on the horizon, and it has certainly captured fans' attention.

The War For Westeros Rages On

Developed by PlaySide and set to launch some time in 2027 after being delayed from its original 2026 release date, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is an upcoming real-time strategy title set in, you guessed it, Westeros.

Whether you tackle the game solo or with friends, you will be tasked with ruling the Seven Kingdoms from atop the Iron Throne as you command the Great Houses, rally some familiar faces, and even rewrite the history of the realm. What better way to get the ending the show did not give you?

In War for Westeros, chaos reigns in ruthless battles across the Seven Kingdoms. Command the Great Houses in epic real-time strategy battles, and stake your claim to the Iron Throne.

As you lead the armies of House Stark, House Lannister, and House Targaryen, you will even be able to control one of the most dangerous armies in the realm: the army of White Walkers led by none other than the Night King himself. With each House offering unique strategies, armies, and mechanics, you may also get to command some of Game of Thrones' most iconic heroes, such as Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister and more.

Control Dragons, Giants, and Cavalry

By commanding an army, you will be in control of every part of it, including its many different types of combatants. Whilst the White Walker army will see you control the path of Giants, you will also be able to seize the skies with Daenerys' dragons. On the ground, the infantry and cavalry will hold ranks whilst you outsmart enemies with smart maneuvering, gain abilities for your heroes, and become the ruthless commander you were always meant to be.

With the goal to claim the Iron Throne, you must do whatever it takes to get there in Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, and since its cinematic reveal trailer back in June 2025, fans have been keeping their eyes on this thrilling upcoming release.

Whilst it does not yet have an official release date, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is already expected to be one of 2027's major releases, and we can only hope that it lives up to the show that inspired it.
