President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said that any threat to Saudi Arabia’s security would also affect Egypt’s national security, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency on Thursday, 15 October.

Speaking during a meeting with senior state officials and journalists following the Police Academy’s graduation ceremony in New Cairo, El-Sisi stressed the importance of Saudi Arabia’s security and stability.

“We will not allow anyone to violate the borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” el-Sisi said.

He described Egypt and Saudi Arabia as central to the Arab and Islamic world, explaining that any harm to either country would have consequences for the other.

The president also warned that the Middle East was undergoing significant geopolitical changes, stressing the need to reduce regional tensions and maintain stability.

Turning to developments in neighbouring countries, El-Sisi highlighted the importance of stability in Sudan, Libya, and the Gaza Strip for Egypt’s national security.

He said Egypt had made efforts to prevent further conflict in Sudan, reiterating Cairo’s commitment to supporting stability in the country.

On Palestine, el-Sisi reaffirmed his support for establishing a Palestinian state, saying he had repeatedly raised the issue during meetings and telephone conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since 2014.

He added that establishing a Palestinian state would contribute to lasting peace and stability across the region.
