Former Pampanga Rep. Aurelio Dong Gonzales has posted bail in the second and seventh divisions of the Sandiganbayan over the graft charges he is facing for alleged ties to government contractor firms while he was in office.

The respective clerks of court confirmed this for the anti-graft court's divisions. Bail was set at P90,000 per count.

Gonzales posted bail before the Second Division on Friday, October 16, and the Seventh Division last Saturday, October 17.

Another graft case filed by Ombudsman prosecutors vs. Gonzales is pending before the Sandiganbayan Third Division.

In an earlier press conference, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Gonzales’ graft charges violate Section 3 of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, the conflict-of-interest clause.

“This is the usual story where there is a divestment, but it goes back to him. The money goes back to him, so there was really no real divestment,” Remulla said.

“Because if you look at the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) records, the payment for construction companies where he supposedly divested still goes to his private bank accounts," he added.

"We have testimonies from engineers and the AMLC has given us financial records on which we based our conclusion,” Remulla said.

Gonzales served as congressman representing the third district of Pampanga from 2007 to 2013, and again from 2016 to 2025. –NB, GMA News
