NPFL Warns Barau FC Over Security Lapses At Home Matches
The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has issued an official warning to Barau FC over security lapses recorded during the club’s home fixtures.
In a statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, the league disclosed that it had received a video circulating on social media showing some Barau FC stewards encroaching onto the field of play following the club’s Matchday 10 encounter against Kwara United FC.
The NPFL described the incident as a serious security concern, warning that such actions could trigger a major security breach if left unchecked.

The league reiterated that the designated duty post for club stewards is the terraces, where they are expected to maintain crowd control and ensure order among supporters. It stressed that stewards must not operate in restricted areas or encroach onto the field of play.
The league further cautioned that Barau FC would face sanctions if a similar incident occurs during any of its subsequent home matches, emphasising that club stewards operate under the full responsibility of the host club.
The NPFL consequently urged the management of Barau FC to take immediate steps to address the lapses and ensure strict compliance with the league’s security directives in future home fixtures.
