Netflix confirms brand-new Bridgerton spin-off centred on beloved character

Fans of Bridgerton have long been anticipating another spin-off after the revered success of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story – and now, we finally have some good news.
That's right, we're being treated to yet another spin-off from the Bridgerton universe and after plenty of fans calling for it, it's now been confirmed that it'll centre on none other than Lady Violet herself.
Played by Ruth Gemmell in the headline series, more recent instalments of Bridgerton have seen Lady Violet really come into her own.
Not only has she forged ahead with an empowering romance of her own and been part of several steamy scenes, but she has also continued to offer incredible advice to her various children as they face relationship problems of their own.

Netflix have announced that the new series will "follow the romance of young Violet and her eventual husband Viscount Edmund Bridgerton" and will be helmed by Bridgerton executive producer and Shondaland CEO Shonda Rhimes. Rhimes – who is obviously also known for her work on Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder – will co-write, showrun and executive produce the Violet spin-off alongside Nicholas Nardini.
They will also be joined by Bridgerton director Tom Verica and Betsy Beers as execs.
The news comes as production on Bridgerton's fifth season continues, but the prospect of a Violet spin-off series has been at the forefront of many minds for some time now.
The season 4 finale saw Violet reflect on her own younger years and tell Benedict (Luke Thompson) that she saw much of herself in her son by the way he has gone through life.
When asked by Radio Times (above) whether that young Violet inclusion could be pointing at another spin-off series, Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell said: "That’s up to Shonda!"
She went on: "Maybe it’s my way of being like, ‘Please, let’s do a spin-off!’. I would so love a young Violet spin-off. I think that’s up to Shonda [Rhimes] and I’m so focused on the hopeful eight seasons that we have that I don’t have my head in that. But I would watch the hell out of a young Violet spin-off, for sure."
As of now, the upcoming series remains untitled and there isn't a release date or any casting information. But if Queen Charlotte's spin-off was anything to go by, we can surely anticipate appearances from Gemmell and possibly Adjoa Andoh and Golda Rosheuvel. As for who will be taking on the starring role as young Violet herself – well, we'll just have to wait and see!
