Ruto Vows to Build Trans Nzoia Hospital Despite Differences with Natembeya

Translate

President William Ruto has vowed to proceed with the construction of a hospital in Trans Nzoia County despite his political differences with Governor George Natembeya, insisting that healthcare projects should not be derailed by disagreements between leaders.

The President maintained that the proposed facility was intended to serve residents and should not become a casualty of political rivalry.

“Hospitals will be built even if the governor has a problem,” Ruto said, emphasising that access to healthcare must take priority over differences between elected leaders.

The Trans Nzoia project forms part of a broader government plan to expand specialised healthcare infrastructure across the country, with other hospital projects underway in Kapsabet, Kakamega and Bungoma, alongside a project recently launched in Kitale.

Ruto outlines nationwide hospital expansion

The President said construction was already underway on another 10 hospitals in different parts of the country, including Bomet, Embu and Kwale.

He added that the government expects to begin construction of an additional 15 hospitals from 2027 as it continues to expand access to healthcare services.

Ruto said the investments were intended to bring quality medical services closer to communities, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances in search of treatment.

President says healthcare must transcend politics

The Head of State argued that ordinary Kenyans cannot always afford to seek medical care far from their homes, making the development of accessible and well-equipped hospitals a priority.

He maintained that political disagreements between national and county leaders should not prevent residents from benefiting from public development projects.

The remarks underscore the government’s position that the Trans Nzoia hospital will proceed despite the strained political relationship between Ruto and Natembeya.
