Bersatu should quit PN instead of undermining coalition, says Tuan Ibrahim

KOTA BARU: Bersatu should withdraw from Perikatan Nasional instead of taking actions that undermine the coalition, said PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

Responding to Muhyiddin's questions on the proposed disciplinary action, Tuan Ibrahim said the answers were already clear.

"Bersatu does not need to make efforts to dissolve PN, or take various actions to attack the coalition.

"It would be better for Bersatu to withdraw from PN.

"They were the ones who lodged a complaint with RoS, yet they are now saddened when RoS cancels PN's registration," said the Kubang Kerian member of parliament.

Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Pas deputy president, said the matter would be referred to the PN Supreme Council to determine the appropriate course of action.

"Whatever it is, we leave it to the PN Supreme Council to scrutinise this matter," he said.

PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had earlier announced that the coalition would initiate disciplinary proceedings against Bersatu over actions allegedly contrary to PN's interests.

The decision was made at a PN Supreme Council meeting on Sunday. Bersatu will be given sufficient time to respond to the allegations before any further action is taken.

Muhyiddin had questioned the basis for the proposed disciplinary action last night, insisting that Bersatu had done nothing wrong.

He also said Bersatu had yet to receive any letter from PN regarding the matter.

The dispute between PN's two main component parties intensified after RoS cancelled the coalition's registration following a complaint by Bersatu over its exclusion from a PN Supreme Council meeting on July 16.

However, the Kuala Lumpur High Court granted a stay on Oct 22, allowing PN to continue its activities pending legal proceedings.
