Maddie Ziegler Finds Herself Stuck in a Christmas Time Loop in Trailer for Netflix’s ‘In A Holidaze’

Maddie Ziegler has found herself stuck in a Christmas time loop in her upcoming Netflix film In A Holidaze. Based on the romance novel of the same name, the streamer dropped the first trailer for the holiday romance Thursday morning.

The trailer begins as Ziegler’s Mae frantically asks family friend Benny, played by a sleepy Rob Lowe, for help after her big mistake — kissing the wrong brother between Graham Phillips’ Andrew and Elias Kacavas’ Theo. “How did you kiss the wrong brother? I always thought it was Andrew?” Lowe asks the actress and dancer. “It is Andrew,” she responds. “I’ve waited a year to finally tell him how I really, really feel, and instead I kissed Theo and ruined Christmas.”

Tiffany Paulsen serves as the film’s writer and director. The logline reads, “After making a romantic mistake of epic proportions, a directionless twenty-something finds herself trapped in a holiday time-loop, forced to relive the same Christmas at her family’s cabin until she discovers what truly makes her happy.”

Throughout the two-minute trailer, Ziegler’s Mae explains her current situation: she’s an “emotional wreck” following the divorce of her parents, played by Patton Oswalt and Jackie Sandler, and it’ll be the last Christmas she and her chosen holiday family will spend at their cozy cabin. With the threat of the cabin she loves being sold, an accident seemingly throws Mae into a Christmas time loop and forces her to relive the holiday over and over until she can get herself out of it.

In A Holidaze will be the first onscreen adaptation for popular romance novelist Christina Lauren, a pen name for writers Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings. The pair are a staple in the contemporary romance space and have other projects in development, including an adaption of their 2018 novel Love and Other Words from the newly formed Magic Hour Entertainment.

Andrea Anders, Gil Bellows, Christopher Shyer, Samer Salem, Luke Roessier and Meredith Salenger round out the cast. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz are producing the project, with Dutton Billings, Galen Fletcher and Lowe serving as executive producers.

In A Holidaze streams exclusively on Netflix starting Dec. 2. Watch the trailer below.
