Tanvi Sharma’s French Open 2026 campaign ended in the second round on Thursday, as she went down 11-21, 14-21 to An Se-young in straight games.
Tanvi raced to a 4-1 lead in the opener, but An clawed back to level at 5-5 and moved ahead to turn the interval at 11-8. Tanvi fought hard to stay in touch, but the Korean’s sharp placement and relentless pace proved too much after the break. An cruised through the closing stretch to take the opener 21-11.
Tanvi again made the early running in the second game, leading 9-6. An drew level at 9-9 and edged ahead at 10-9 after a thrilling rally, but Tanvi kept fighting to make it 10-10.
An took the break at 11-10, yet Tanvi refused to go down without a fight and closed the gap to 15-14. That was as close as she got. An pressed the pedal and raced away to a 21-14 win, sealing the match.
Earlier this month, Tanvi had suffered a straight games loss to top seed An. The Indian teenager went down 15-21, 13-21 to the reigning Asian, World and Olympic champion in the quarterfinal.
