Telecommunications firm, MTN Nigeria, has thrilled students of Abia State University, Uturu, with a car valued at N35 million, laptops and other gift items as part of its youth engagement drive.
The three-day Live It 100 on Campus activation featured a range of activities and giveaways for students, including a car, laptops, refrigerators, microwaves and other gift items.
At the grand finale of the ABSU activation, Favour Robinson, a 100-level Medical Laboratory student, emerged as the winner of the brand-new car.
Robinson expressed her appreciation to MTN Nigeria for the opportunity, particularly because of what it meant for her parents.
She said, “When they were calling other winners, I told myself it couldn’t be me. I was shocked when they called the last number and heard my name. I want to say a very big thank you to MTN Nigeria for making this possible, especially for my parents.”
The Senior Manager, Segment Marketing, MTN Nigeria, Temilolu Salako, said MTN was at ABSU to delight its customers, particularly students, whom he described as key drivers of the company’s business.

“We also organised this programme to support students, ease some of the pressures associated with academic life and provide entertainment.
We also created a platform for student entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products to fellow students,” he added.
Salako said MTN offers education-specific bundles, binge bundles and social media bundles for platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat. He also highlighted its night bundles, including 500MB for N75, to support students carrying out research and other online academic activities.
A Dean of the university, Prof. Dick Uduma, commended MTN, saying the initiative could encourage entrepreneurship among students and boost the university’s visibility.
Also speaking, the President of the ABSU Students’ Union Government, Victor Uzoma, lauded the company, saying the programme had educated students on data management and provided affordable routers.
