MANILA, Philippines — PLDT said its internet services were fully restored nationwide Sunday afternoon following a service disruption caused by a submarine cable cut between the Philippines and Singapore.

In an advisory, PLDT said services returned to normal at 4:30 p.m.

“Services have fully normalized nationwide following the submarine cable cut between the Philippines and Singapore on Oct. 2,” the company said.

PLDT had earlier advised customers that the cable cut was affecting internet services nationwide. It said it had rerouted most of the affected traffic to restore services.

The University of the Philippines Diliman Network Helpdesk earlier said one of the undersea cable segments between the two countries was reportedly offline. This caused slow internet connection or service disconnection as most of the upstream internet service providers (ISPs) connect through these major information pipelines.
