Transformers: Resistance Will Officially Adapt Cybertron's Final Days

Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.
Transformers remains one of the most popular franchises around, with all sorts of new releases coming along that celebrate that immense appeal further. Interestingly, very few of those adaptations take us back in the lore to a time when the Autobots and Decepticons weren't found on Earth.
Arguably the most important part of the existing Transformers' lore is the great war on their homeworld of Cybertron, where factions fought over everything from a supposed caste system to mystical artifacts like the AllSpark and the Matrix of Leadership. It's also fascinating, and it's bizarre that most adaptations don't delve into it more closely.
Until now, perhaps, as a new release puts the Great War on Cybertron front and center, with players controlling the fate of an entire planet in the process.

As first reported by CBR, the upcoming crowdfunding campaign for OCGames' Transformers Resistance is now officially available for preview. Designed for 1–4 players, it takes around two hours to complete a full game, with the emphasis really being on player strategy above all else.
In sharing some details with potential backers about what their plans are for the game, the manufacturer shared the following description:
"Transformers Resistance is a fully cooperative tactical dungeon crawler set during the final stages of the war for Cybertron. Lead the Autobots against the overwhelming Decepticon forces, relying on strategy, teamwork, and courage to survive challenging missions. With an automated enemy system controlling the Decepticons, every battle delivers unpredictable encounters without requiring an opposing player.
"Master intense tactical combat where every move matters. Use cover to outmaneuver your enemies, unleash powerful attacks with custom-designed dice, and equip your heroes with the tools and abilities they need to survive. Every character brings a unique identity to the battlefield. Asymmetric heroes and enemies offer distinct abilities and playstyles, while Energon fuels powerful upgrades that can turn the tide of battle.
"Fight through an interconnected narrative campaign where your characters grow stronger, your choices have consequences, and every mission brings you one step closer to determining Cybertron's fate."
The offering is extremely comprehensive for those who decide to get involved, with a hex-based map, 26 detailed plastic miniatures of some of the most recognizable characters in the franchise, and a full narrative campaign where the player has to fight through linked missions to decide the fate of Cybertron.
Without a full D&D style setting, this is comfortably the deepest TTRPG that has ever been officially attached to Transformers. As mentioned earlier, the proper campaign isn't live yet, so it's not possible to back the project until that bridge has been crossed. It's worth checking out for yourself ahead of time, though, so you can make an informed decision when it does get here.
Outside of that, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are developing a new live-action Transformers movie, with Steven Spielberg returning to oversee the creative direction of the film. Michael Bay is also in talks to return to direct once again, though that is yet to be confirmed by any party at this juncture.
